Onwards To Stafford Boat Club

We noticed this tree opposite last nights mooring!  Elaine sent CART a pic plus a map with its location before we set off this morning.  It is dead opposite the official single 48 hour mooring near Pasturefields, it will certainly block the canal if it comes down!

Only two locks today, this one being the first ...

The boys were a bit cold so they hid under the blanket - but they warmed up when Elaine took them for a walk along the towpath.

Turning into the Staffs and Worcs canal...
(where we passed NB Sokai again!)

Oops!  I think this boat might have a damp problem ...

Impressive looking farm building...

Approaching the Tixall Wide ...

Not sure what this building was close to the wide but it was spectacular !

It is very wide for a canal!  (The things she makes me do !)

You can see how wide it is -look at the narrow boat moored on the right of the pic ...

Into Tixall Lock - just love the cottage.

Very nice...

Entrance to the Shugborough railway tunnel...

Its that lovely cottage again...

Sam liked it !

Finally - after speaking with the very helpful and friendly Harbourmaster, we cruised straight into the berth at Stafford Boat Club - right in front of the slipway, perfect! |Our car was already here in the car park as we brought it here the other day - so after we tied up we nipped up the shops for a few bits ...

It is a really smart boat club, very tidy, plus a wet dock.  It puts most professional yards to shame - it also has a bar which opens shortly, would be rude not to go for a swift one or two!

  1. The building is the gatehouse to Tixhall Hall. The gatehouse is the only thing still standing and can be rented out! http://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/search-and-book/properties/tixall-gatehouse-12604

    1. Thanks Linda, If that is the gatehouse, the main house must have been most impressive!
