Leaving Manchester ...

Back to Paul again after Elaine's sterling effort on a blog catch up!
We left Castlefield today (Sunday) after a fantastic stay in Manchester - it is a must do on all narrowboater's or anyone's plans.

After filling the water tank and emptying the sh** tanks we were off, on what was a positively mild windless day.  It was the first time I havn't had a coat on whilst steering for a very very long time.

Passing the abandoned Hulme lock ...

Past the Pomona lock which joins the Manchester ship canal ...

A lot of graffiti about ... Bombo despairing !

Sam appears to approve though ...

And past the mighty Manchester Utd ground....

Now that is where I would like to be on Monday night...

Man Utd vs....................

Man City!

Trafford centre through the twigs ...

Nice wide canal the Bridgewater so Elaine has decided that she is going to learn to drive the boat proper like!

She steered it over the Barton swing bridge aqueduct ...

Which passes over the Manchester ship Canal - pity there wasn't a ship coming!

She then got bored and went below to cook a lentil curry ... no probs from me, I enjoy whiling away the hours on the tiller.

So it was a hard to port past the lighthouse!

Worsley looked really nice, we will stop here on the way back from Liverpool.

We stopped for the night at Astley, just by t'pit ...

And here we are back in the sticks and bang up to date with this blogging lark.

It was quite strange not being able to blog for a few days - I missed it!  We must  keep a close look at our data usage this month so we don't go over the top again!
