Hot In The City

We met some more Aussies on the campsite this morning, these ones were from Bendigo Victoria.  We had a little chat and then they continued on their journey !

We organised  a cab to take us into the city, it was only about 6 km from the site.

No prom so we had a pavement pose today ...

Yet another very nice Spanish city, the paving is just amazing ...

We were going to go on an open top bus tour but it was far too hot and we didn't see the point of sitting downstairs.

So we just ambled around the historic part of the city dragging two very hot dogs with us ...

We cooled them off by the fountain ...

More of the square ...

It's at times like this that the dogs wished they were on the cool roof of the narrow boat ...

This is the bed of the river that used to flow through the middle of the city.  It flooded in 1957 killing 85 people so they diverted the river around the city!

Look at the size of those doors ...

Elaine spotted a nice dress in this vintage shop but unfortunately it didn't fit ...

Time for a lunch break and beer (in a Lebanese restaurant!) ...

There are some great shop fronts around ...

I thought this was a railway station but in fact it was the indoor market ...

Once again, pretty flash inside too ...

Ham anyone ...

Now this has to be the crappiest bit of street art I have ever seen.  A 1970s Ford Taurus, surounded by wolves ... I wonder why !

More fountains ...

Beautiful architecture ...

By now it was getting seriously hot ...

I think this was a hotel ...

Final pic of a lovely city, not as spectacular as Seville but very nice ...

We hailed a cab home and within 15 mins were in the lovely campsite swimming pool chatting to a Kiwi lady!  There are a lot of antipodeans in these parts.

Tomorrow we will head up the coast to somewhere.

Where we stayed:

Coll Vert Camping (click to go to website)
Carretera del Riu, 486
46012 - Pinedo (Valencia),  España

Nice friendly campsite, older style but has all facilities you need. We were a little crammed in with the other motorhomes but I think they put the 1-2 dayers in the same spot as the rest of the site had plenty of space.  Fair amount of road noise - but I would rather have that than the sound of barking dogs all night!  Swimming pool was the best we have been in.  The beach is about 200 m away.  Great spot to go and visit Valencia ... the bus stops right outside.  We had to get a taxi in as we had the dogs ... which cost about 15 Euros each way.

It's in the ACSI book so it was 16 Euros a night - plus optional wifi for 5 Euros a day, which actually lasts longer than a day ...

  1. Hi you two, looks as if you’re having a wonderful holiday although it would be a tad too hot for me! Unfortunately on this posting only the last 8 of your pictures are showing - too good to miss!
