A Right Royal Get Together

Yesterday, we drove from Bath up to Windsor for our rendezvous with some of the Aston Marina Royalty!

I had read on the wild camping site that you can park motorhomes at the coach park overnight, which, luckily, turned out to be correct!  The attendant gave us a spot, asked us how long we wanted to stay and charged us £6.00 for 24 hours!  What a bargain ... a parking spot right in the middle of Windsor, a bonus being that it was also super safe and secure.

You think that your motorhome is a reasonable size but someone always has to go one better ...  this one was Swiss, yours for £240,000 / $480,000 AUD!

I wonder what their house is like?!!

Also in the carpark next door was one of the last of the Land Rover Defenders.  This one was the heritage model, a retro of the 1947 Landie ...

We then headed off along the Thames towpath to meet up with the Aston Crew.

Elaine handed out her goody bags whilst we enjoyed Ray's brownies, Sue's cheese scones, tea and beer!

A very nice steam launch cruised by ...

We asked a passer-by to take a pic of the group ...

These ducks are new, unlike their counterparts in Liverpool that have a habit of sinking!

We then left the others and went for a walkabout.

These swans are frightened of no one, let alone a little white dog ...

We went for a walk to Eton looking to check out the 'Eton school boys' ...

Nice mews ...

We found the college, but apparently the well off types have longer hols that us urchins and it was shut!

It was actually quite quiet in Windsor ...

There were loads of spare moorings on the river ...

We walked around for about two hours ...

We had to go to the castle ...

And have a pose out the front!

As the American tourist said 'why build a castle under the Heathrow flight path? ...

For our evening get together, Sue had booked a table for dinner at The Two Brewers pub, and what a pub it was!  It was fantastic service and food, dog friendly and no children allowed inside! This would have to be the best pub in Windsor hands down ...

This morning we were up bright and early to say farewell to out boaty friends.
Sammie really was enjoying the fuss from his mate, Ray ...

See ya later Ray and Diane (NB Ferndale) ...

Goodbye Andy and Sue (NB Festina Lente) - we will see you also in the not-to-distant future ...

We then drove from Windsor to the Caravan Club site in Crystal Palace (via Tesco :( )

We crossed the Thames on Battersea Bridge, we think!

Once moored up it was a big sort out time!  We put the shopping away, cleaned the van out, stripped and re-made the beds, rearranged the garage and then used the washing machine on site to catch up on the washing and drying - especially the bed sheets, as we hadn't had a chance to wash them since we left!  (Actually, Elaine tried to wash one sheet in Anglesea but she hung it on the back of the van and then it got tyre prints on it!).

After that, we had a bit of a nanna nap each!!

We are in London for a week now ... we love London!
